Sunday School
The heart of our ministry to children/youth is our dynamic Sunday morning church school program. Classes are available during the school year for children/youth ages four through high school every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (coinciding with our 10:00 a.m. worship service). Children join their parents in church midway through the service in order to receive communion.

We use the Rock Solid children’s curriculum for ages pre-kindergarten through 6th grade. Rock Solid is a comprehensive journey through the bible covering key bible stories while incorporating lessons about the major Christian seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. We put the fun into learning and utilize skits, puppets, crafts, games and other creative methods in our teaching.

Our students in middle school, grades 7 and 8, use the “Faith in Motion” curriculum which explores faith and life issues relevant to middle school teens from a biblical perspective. And finally, the weekly lectionary is used as a jumping off point for discussion in our high school class, grades 9-12. Every other year a confirmation class is offered to those students in grades 9 and above.

Junior Church
Approximately four times a year, all elementary children are invited to attend Junior Church in lieu of their regular Sunday school class. This provides an opportunity for multi-age fellowship as all children kindergarten through 6th grade gather together for worship and celebration. We focus on topics not normally covered in the Sunday school curriculum such as stewardship and outreach. Children are given opportunities to put their faith into action through such activities as Trick or Treat for UNICEF and a Lenten service project.

Communion Class
Open to children in the first grade and older, this class looks at the meaning of the Holy Eucharist; why we do what we do in the church service. We learn about church seasons and talk about the things that are used in worship (vestments, chalice, paten, etc.). Taught by the rector, this class meets three Saturday mornings in January.

Vacation Bible School
Christian education does not end with the advent of summer! We invite all children ages 4 through grade 5 (rising) to join us from July 11 -15, 2011 for Vacation Bible School. Older youth are encouraged to participate as well as helpers in the various activity centers. This is a spirit filled week of bible stories, songs, games, crafts, science, drama and just plain fun as we study and experience the word of God.

Treble Choir
Open to all children ages kindergarten through 6th grade, the Treble Choir sings an anthem approximately every other month during our Sunday 10:00 a.m. worship service and participates in the music and worship of the church at other special services, such as Children’s Day and Christmas Eve. The choir rehearses every Sunday morning 9:15 - 10:00 a.m. in the Upper Hall of the church.

Christmas Pageant
The Christmas pageant is an annual tradition at St Andrew’s. All children/youth ages 4 through middle school are invited and encouraged to participate.

Other Special Events
There are many other events held throughout the year providing fun and fellowship for the families of St Andrew’s. These events include our Pizza Bingo Night, an Intergenerational Christmas Tree Trimming event and an all parish Lenten Pancake Breakfast.

Tween Youth Group - Grades 4, 5 & 6

Fellowship and service activities for the 4th, 5th and 6th graders are offered approximately four times per year. Anticipated events this year include a bowling party and an all parish women’s tea party.

St. Andrew's Youth Group - Grades 7-12

St Andrew’s has a combined middle and high school youth group, grades 7 to 12, which meets a minimum of once a month for fellowship and service activities. Service projects for youth include both parish wide and community building events such as:  a pancake breakfast to raise funds for area charities; cooking and serving dinner at a homeless shelter; nursing home visits. Some of the fun activities we do throughout the year include snow tubing, scavenger hunts, bowling, hiking, hayrides, paintball, swimming, trip to Hershey Park and more.
